I began my MLM beauty trials with LipSense. LipSense is a relatively new company to me. I only started seeing posts about it in the last year. I have about 100 lipsticks, so I didn’t take much notice in the beginning. Then, I saw that my friend, Rachel Holz, had joined them, and she’s really smart, a medical professional. That made me take notice. She was posting pictures of herself with these gorgeous shiny lip colors. The idea of Lipsense is that the lip color wears all day, even after drinking, eating and talking. When I’m busy at work, the last thing I’m thinking about is reapplying lipstick. It would be nice to have something that looked amazing all day with zero effort. My hesitation was that long wear lipsticks usually look dry and tend to have a weird allergic reaction on me. I needed more info.
Here’s the backstory on this company:
SeneGence was formed in 1999 by Joni Rogers, who was formally in sales with another MLM company. She wanted to create a company that supported women with a product that she felt was truly worthwhile and unlike anything else on the market. She created LipSense, which is now the premiere product of SeneGence, but the company has grown to include an entire make up and skincare line. Every product has a 100% guarantee because the company wants people to truly love and believe in their products. In addition to empowering women with sales, the company also has a non-profit foundation called MakeSense which gives back to a variety of charities that support women and children, including causes such as domestic violence survivors and breast cancer research.

About myself: I’m a wife, mom to two daughters (9 month old and almost four year old) and a psychiatry provider. Sometimes my full time job feels a little “heavy” at times and I wanted something that was fun. Selling LipSense is certainly a shift from what I do normally and it’s just what I needed. It has given me a great group of friends, products that I love, and awesome extra income. It started as a hobby and has turned into something more, which I’m incredibly grateful for. When I first got into selling for SeneGence, it seemed like a crazy idea because I’m a mom with a full time medical practice, but I’m so glad I did it. I met someone through a Facebook group to first buy the product and ended up loving it. I was wearing LipSense (BluRed-my personal favorite) just about every day and it felt like I was talking to people about how amazing it is that it seemed like a logical step to be able to sell it to women as well. I started off just offering it to my friends and family and it just grew from there. It still pleasantly surprises me when I look back on the month and see how much lip color I’ve sold! It’s easy to sell a product that you love and I wear LipSense every day. Something about having lip color on just makes me feel more put together. In addition to selling, I now have a great team. SeneGence is about community and I do feel like I’ve gained a network of women who support me. I get how cliché that sounds, but there is absolute truth to it.

Add several wine tastings, lunch, chatting and I still had lip color on.

It didn’t make my lips feel dry, as long as I had gloss on. I did reapply the gloss throughout the day. It isn’t sticky or tacky. I actually like the texture of the gloss better than the lip color. Although, the lip color smells so GOOD!I’ve worn it to work several times now, and it has held up very well.
Final Verdict: I give it a thumbs up!
The Pros:
- It definitely lasts longer than any lipstick I’ve ever tried.
- It smells great.
- The Glossy Gloss is an amazing lip conditioner.
- The colors are very pretty.
The Cons:
- It does take a little longer to apply, waiting between layers.
- The texture is a little strange at first, I got used to it quickly.
- You have to remove it with a separate product.
I will be buying another color for Fall called Napa. There are tons of pretty colors and I am pretty sure that I’ll add several more over the next year. It’s nice to have this as an option.
If you are interested in trying LipSense, feel free to find Rachel on Facebook and join her group Charlotte Lip Lady.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Until next Time,
Amanda
Okay, so you seem very experienced with Lipsense, so I just was wondering a few things. I recently tried a few lip shades from this brand and they came out watery and smelled like alcohol. I was going to do a review over these, but didn’t want to bash a brand if I had just received a few bad bottles. Was there something I should’ve done with products first to avoid this?
They do have a runnier consistency and I didn’t smell alcohol in mine. I’ve only used one color, so I’d reach out to your rep to see if there is something she can do. I’m not a rep. Just another customer, like you.
Oh okay, well thank you for your feedback anyways! Enjoyed your post!
Hi Kristen,
Thanks for trying LipSense. I know I’m not the rep that you purchased from, but thought I might be able to help. Make sure that you really shake the tube (a good 10 seconds or so) of lip color prior to putting it on each time especially if it’s new or has been sitting awhile. That really mixes in all the ingredients, including the SD40 alcohol, which is a cosmetic grade alcohol. That might help with the strong alcohol smell and the looser consistency. Like Amanda commented, it does have a thinner texture which allows it to dry faster during application. Hope this helps in some way!
Well thank you for taking the time to help me out! I appreciate and will try out your advice!
